Glitch
Since its inception in 2017, Glitch Charity has remained steadfast in its mission to combat online abuse, with a particular focus on safeguarding Black women who bear the brunt of such targeting. Through fruitful collaborations with 38 organisations, Glitch has conducted an impressive 139 workshops, reaching and impacting 2,422 participants. In a strategic partnership with AKOU, we carried out an evaluation of their workshops, providing invaluable insights into the transformative effects of their training programs in fostering digital citizenship.
Guiding AKOU to embrace a Black feminist perspective, our aim was to ensure that the evaluation process not only stood as a robust exercise but was also sensitive to the unique experiences and challenges faced by Black women in virtual spaces. We encouraged the team to engage in thoughtful reflection on their own positionalities, prompting them to recognise how our social identities might shape our perceptions and interpretations of the data collected.Through reflective practices, we considered and honoured the profound impact our interactions with participants and the Glitch team had on our own growth as researchers. This enriching exchange not only elevated our research process but also nurtured a deep sense of partnership and mutual respect.
